If you’re located in an area of Florida that has been impacted by Hurricane Dorian, both Lyft and Uber are offering free rides both to and from local shelters.
In both cases, that free ride comes with a tiny bit of a caveat: it has to be under a certain amount to be “free” which means you might still have to pay a bit depending on how far away you are from a shelter.
Here’s the official list of shelters.
For Uber, you can take two free rides using the service up to $20 in value.
To take advantage of the offer, launch the app and tap “Payment” in the app menu and then scroll down to Promotions and select “Add Promo Code.” From there, enter the code DORIANRELIEF.
Lyft is offering something similar, but only a $15 credit rather than $20 for each ride. To take advantage of the offer you’ll need to register your phone number on Lyft’s Wheels for All website. After you do, you can use the promo code DORIANRELIEF within the app to get the discount.
Worth noting: Lyft and Uber drivers are putting themselves and their vehicles in danger by working during the hurricane. If you’re able, this is a particularly important time to remember to tip those drivers.
